Baby Update

This morning, Foti and I went to see Dr. Silvers for our last office visit. I am still not dilated or effaced and Baby Matty's head is still 2 miles from my pelvis! What is this crazy kid thinking?!? Dr. Silvers will admit me on Sunday afternoon and give me two kinds of medication to help move things along so that by Monday, our little guy should make his debut! Hopefully things progress well, as I do not want to end up having a C- Section, which is a possibility if the medications are not effective. My Aunt Fannie used to say, "When the fruit is ripe, it'll fall from the tree. " Well, this little apple-of-my-eye is getting plucked!

He's ALMOST here!

Today I had my 40 week check up and Baby Matty is still a stubborn little stinker! He hasn't moved further down into my pelvis and I am still not dilated or effaced. I have another appointment on Friday morning and if there is still no change, my doctor will admit me to the hospital on Sunday night (hopefully the hospital has HBO so we can watch The Sopranos) and start the induction early Monday morning. So he will be here for SURE by next Monday! YAY!

Weekly Doctor Visit

Today I had my weekly check up with Dr. Silvers. Baby Matthaios weighs in at 6.9 pounds and is healthy! On the ultrasound I saw his heart beating, his little stomach and kidneys ( they are the cutest kidneys you've ever seen) and of course I had to check out his manhood. Yep, he's still a boy. Foti asks me every time I have an ultrasound to make sure that I see his package. Well, it's there, Dad! I am not dilated or effaced and his head is still high up. So, it may be another week or two. At least he is staying in his head down position!

Miami Heat

Me and "Burnie" the Mascot
Me and the #1 Heat Fan
Alonzo and Shaq
Head Coach Pat Riley

Last night, Foti and I went to the Heat game at the American Airlines Arena. We scored courtside seats thanks to a very generous colleague of Foti's. We were on the Heat side under the hoop- any closer and we would have been in the game! At one point, Shaq, 'Zo, Dwayne and the boys were down 25 points and made an incredible comeback to beat Boston 107-104. I thought I might go into labor from all the yelling and jumping around I did, but no such luck. We had an awesome time!

My Little Flip Flopper

Today, I met with Dr. Silvers again (gotta love those weekly probings) and guess what? Matty Cakes flipped his half- Greek booty upside down and is head first! YAY!! I was getting worried but my little man came through for me. He was just being a little stinker, that's all. Wanted to tease his mama a little! Thanks for all the good vibes you all are sending me! It was either that or the Ipod headphones I've had down my pants all week trying to entice him to move toward Bono's voice. Maybe he really digs U2 like his daddy...

Doctor Visit

Yesterday I had my 37 week check up with Dr. Silvers. He said the baby has not yet descended into my pelvis and is in a seated, head up position. As you can imagine, this is not a position condusive to normal birthing! What's going on, Matty?!? He also said that my amniotic fluid is lower than the week before which would make it a little more difficult for the Baby to flip on his own and also more diffiuclt for Dr. Silvers to attempt an external flipping technique. So, I go back next week for another check up and if he is still being stubborn (he's half Mazzarese, you know), we might have to consider a C-Section- which I am a bit bummed out about. But Fotis and I are trying to be optimistic and hoping he'll assume the position!

My Green Thumb

Check out how three of my orchids are blooming! They are gorgeous! My friend Amy started me on the orchid madness and I love when they are in full bloom. The top one I bought at Home Depot and the bottom one was given to us by Martha and Serdar last Easter. The pink one was a gift from the hubster on our 3rd wedding anniversary.

Big Baby Boy

This week I had my 36 week ultrasound to check on Baby Matty's size. He is a big boy already- 6 pounds! 27 days and counting until my due date. I hope he's a little early because we are so excited to meet him. It's amazing how you love someone so much and you have never met him! He is very active and so he flipped out of his previous head down position. Oh well, he still has a little time to get into the correct position. I am still feeling well, just more tired, especially after 8 or 12 hours in the ER. Foti has been such a great support- he never complains about doing almost all the housework, puts up with my occasional emotional sensitivities, rubs my feet, and pretty much pampers me to the full extent! Did I luck out or what?
