Welcome To the World!

Meet our new friend and neighbor, Daniel! His Mom and Dad, Angie and Pablo, are so excited to finally meet him! He was two weeks late but we are so happy he finally made his debut! Matt can't wait till Daniel is a little bigger so they can play together!

Meet Miss Nadia! Her Mom and Dad, Rohini and Carlos, were overjoyed to see their daughter for the first time. She is the sweetest baby girl who looks just like her momma. She is going to definately break some hearts when she gows up! We are so glad Daniel and Nadia are finally here!

Yesterday, Foti left work a little early to pick up Matthaios at school. By the time I got home from work at 8 pm, Matt had learned something new from his Dad! When I asked him the same question in English ("Where is your nose?"), he gave me a blank stare. Foti said, "That's because he speaks Greek!!" HA!

On Wednesday night, Matt spiked a fever of 104 so Thursday we were off to the pediatrician...again. Poor booboo has another ear infection. He is better today after 3 doses of antibiotics, but Foti and I are rethinking our childcare options. We hate to see him with so many ear infections! I know people say day care is good because it builds up their immunity and then they don't get so sick when they go to school, but this is too many times! Our doctor said that after 18-24 months, kids' ear anatomy changes which makes ear infections a little less likely so we are going to figure out some other alternatives. Yia Yia is going to come stay with us for a while until we figure something else out. It's hard for us to see him not feeling well and always on antibiotics and we want to do what's best for him!

Matt's First Fencing Lesson

Yesterday, Matt was playing in the kitchen with a wooden spoon and spatula. Daddy came home and decided to show the little guy how to sword fight. Matty went crazy!! He was hitting so hard and smacked Foti in the knuckles a few times- ouch!

He got his 4th tooth today and he hasn't been biting like he was in Greece- thank goodness! Although, he got bit on the face this week at school by another little kid. No bleeding, just a bruised cheek and ego. Poor booboo!

He also had a recheck at the pediatrician today for his ears. He has had quite a few ear infections and she wanted to make sure they looked better from 6 weeks ago. He has fluid in both of his ears, but he is just getting over a cold so we have to go back in 4 more weeks for a recheck . We'll keep you posted!

Three Weeks In Greece

Foti, Matthaios and I spent an incredible 3 weeks in Greece. We had such a great time! Matthaios enjoyed spending lots of time with his Yia Yia Alexandra and his Thia Katerina and Foti and I shared some great times together without the munchkin! Matt slept at his Yia Yia's every night and she and Katerina had so much fun with him. Foti and I enjoyed sleeping in and napping when we wanted to- it was great! Alexandra cooked everyday for us and we came home so much fatter. Here are a few of the highlights of our trip...

Thia Katerina is so happy to see her nephew

Tasos and Foti in Patras- they have been best of friends for over 30 years

WEEEEEE!

Matt meets his Greek Godfather Tasos

The harbor in Nafpaktos

This is the village of Kalavrita where we stayed for 2 days with Tasos. It's a small little village in the mountains of central Greece.

On our way to lunch in Kalavrita, we encountered a few obstacles!
Matthaios was baptized at St. Dimitris Greek Orthodox Church. It's the same church where Foti was baptized and where his parents were married. He was a little bit stressed as you can see, but the ceremony was beautiful and rich in tradition.

After being baptized and rubbed with olive oil, Tasos wrapped him in a towel and then he was dressed in a beautiful linen suit his Godfather bought for him.

After dinner that night, we went for drinks! Foti is here with his cousins Michalis and Costa and his sister Katerina

Can you tell that the photographer had a bit to drink that night? Our friends Nikos and Akis came down from Athens with Nikos' niece Nikki and her friend Anne. We had so much fun with them!

Foti and I took a boat to the Island of Ithaki (Ithaca) for 3 days without the boy. The beaches were gorgeous and the water was the cleanest I have ever seen.

My handsome Greek!

Here's the 3 of us, a few days before we left Nafpaktos to come home. Matt got used to the cool water and did not want to get out! Yia Yia and the rest of the family were sad to see us go, but we'll be back soon!
