Guess What I Did Today?

"Hola- Matty cakes here, or as I am know here in Miami- Mateo- cause nobody can pronounce Mat-thay-os. Anyhoo, just wanted to brag a little about my latest accomplishment. Today at school I pulled myself to a complete and upright position holding onto a low bookcase- I was so proud of myself! Then, Mom came over at lunch time and I did it over and over again for her to see how big I am getting. She was very pleased with me! I am sure she is going to catch me doing it again so she can record it on her new camcorder, so stay tuned..."

This Is So Wrong. Funny. But Wrong.

Yesterday at school, one of Matt's caretakers told me he was smacking his hand on the table during one of his tantrums and she said, "Matthaios, that's not nice!" She told me he closed his eyes and lowered his head like he knew he was being scolded. I thought to myself, "Yeah, right, like he knows what she is saying." I guess I underestimated how observant my kid is because he did it for me later that night. I had to catch it on video today, so here I am, scolding my kid, just for entertainment. I know. I know.

Happy Birthday Abuelita!

"Feliz Compleanos to my favorite Chilean Abuelita ("Grandma" in spanish for all you gringos). My Abuelita Marisol has been there for me since the day I was born and has been like a Mom for my Mom since she moved here to Miami. We love you Abuelita and we are so lucky to have you in our lives!"

P.S. This is one of our first pictures together- I was about 3 weeks old

Weekend Fun

On Sunday, Matt and I went to the baptism of my friend RaShana's son, Deuce (his name is Elvin, but ain't nobody calling him that). Deuce looked so handsome in his fancy suit (although the oh so talented photographer missed a good shot of him in it) and the ceremony was beautiful. RaShana's dad is a pastor and performed the baby dedication at their church. It was very personal- we all stood up on the altar surrounding the family. Afterwards, everyone went out to eat at Bucco di Peppo. I was very impressed that my ants-in-his-pants son made it through the entire afternoon without a meltdown! We had a beautiful afternoon and were so happy to be there on Deuce's special day!

Weekend Fun

On Saturday, we went to our friends Marco and Michelle's home to say goodbye to our friends and colleagues Kristin and Hassan. They are moving to India this month and we are going to miss them! It was a beautiful breezy day and we had lots of great food and conversation.

Motherhood Lesson #146

When you wait for 30 minutes for a table at P.F. Chang's with your hubs and 9 1/2 month old baby, most likely your baby will get ants in his pants about half way through dinner and be on the verge of a meltdown. Trying to keep your munchkin from making a scene by feeding him will work for a while, that is until you fill up his little belly to the bursting point. Then, when you give him one little taste of rice, he'll gag and throw everything up in the pocket of the bib. Nice one, Mom.

Miami in January

I saw on the weather channel that a bitter cold had settled in to the northeast and I feel bad for you all. I just walked outside in our partly sunny, 73 degree weather and checked on my tomato plants. I have to say they are growing rather nicely. Sorry, just wanted to rub that in a little!

Happy Birthday Grammy PJ!

Happy Birthday to the best Grammy and Mom in the world! We love you and are so blessed to have you in our lives. Thank you for everything you have done for us over the years, from going back to school to further your education, being a great role model and having such a zest for life. Thanks for keeping me on a straight path and dealing with the painful teenage years! We wouldn't be here without you and we thank God for you every day!

On Friday, the gang from the ER went out after work for happy hour. We had a busy day at work and the mojito's went down so smoothly! Someone had a little bit of a hangover on Saturday, but it was worth it!

Addition to my Blogging Family

My friend Bethaney started her blog when her baby girl Mia was born in September. I guess she is so busy with taking care of the baby and working full-time that she forgot to tell me about it!!! I see her almost every day- we work together, our kids are in the same day care, we live in the same neighborhood and I work with her husband!! I guess I'll let it slide since she is such a good friend! Give her some lovin' here.

Two Swingers

"Me and my main man Logan hung out at the park today. We were planning on checking out the babes, but there were only a few and they were all older than us, by about three years. We decided to just chill in the swings and make our moms do all the work!"

Guess What I Did Today???

"As you all know so well, I am growing fast and learning something new every day. Today my momma came to school to see me today at lunchtime and I greeted her with my arms up in the air and a loud "MOMMA!" She was so excited to hear me call her that. She had to check with the ladies who take care of me to see if they heard me say it, too. They agreed that I said it- whatta they think, I don't know how to talk?? Mom called Dad and he was excited for her. She had been feeling a little bad since I said "Dada" last week. She was going on about how she carried me in her belly for 9 months and how do I repay her- by saying said "Dada" first. I tried to telll her "Dada" is easier to say, but I got the hang of "momma" now. Now I plan to drive her crazy by saying it all the time!"

Camo Cutie

My Aunt Becky got me this cool outfit for Christmas- don't I look tough? In the bottom picture, I am practicing my military crawl. I still can't get my booty up in the air yet- I think my belly is too big!!

Happy New Year!

The 'Mardars' and the 'Brownies' came over on New Year's for a little get- together at our house. The little man was asleep and missed out on all the fun! Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2007!

I'm 9 Months Old!

"Where has the time gone? I am 9 months old today- eating all kinds of food (and not just baby food, I'll have you know), play Peek-A-Boo and Pattycake, do the military crawl and babble non-stop. Mom took me to the pediatrician yesterday and I am now 21 pounds (60th percentile) and 28 inches (50th percentile). I am learning to balance myself while holding onto something when I stand. I have been trying to pull myself up onto anything, but haven't been successful yet. Oh, well- something to work on!!"
